At about 4:30 pm on Saturday afternoon (11th July 2026) Guernsey Coastguard were alerted to two teenagers on one paddleboard, being blown out to sea from Dixcart Bay in Sark.

At approximately 4:40 pm, the St Peter Port, Inshore Lifeboat, (ILB) Harold Hobbs, launched at the request of the Coastguard to search for the two teens. The lifeboat arrived on scene at 5:00 pm, by which time, the two young persons had been located, ashore at the Coupee Sark, by a pleasure vessel that had responded to an earlier Mayday call broadcast by Coastguard.

As a precautionary measure, the teens were transferred to the lifeboat for medical assessment but were both found to be in good health, they were then handed over into the care of their parents on Dixcart Bay beach.

The RNLI lifeboat subsequently stood down and returned to station at 5:35 pm.

Guernsey Coastguard would like to remind people who engage in waterborne activities, to assess the tide and weather and be aware of their own capabilities before entering the water.
